Newsom’s campaign X account @GovPressOffice commented on Presler’s video, writing, “thank you, Nancy Mace.” The reply received over 12,000 likes by Tuesday evening.

But while numerous X commenters seemed to support the reply, Fox News contributor Tomi Lahren commented, “You’re kidding me right? Your state and your bulls**t Governor rant and rave on a daily basis about protecting gay people, and you’re really going to use your official press office account to troll a gay conservative and call him a woman?”

GovPressOffice responded to Lahren’s comment by replying, “you sound woke,” The Daily Dot reported. Right-wingers have increasingly used “woke” as a pejorative for socially progressive viewpoints that emphasize the respectful inclusion of marginalized people, including non-white and LGBTQ+ groups.

Gavin Newsom is a bandwagon-jumping “anti-woke”, homophobic and transphobic right-winger. He’s not what the USA needs in a Democratic Party presidential candidate.

Looks like you’re in need of a reality check.

For the foreseeable future, and likely for the remainder of your life, you will have one of two parties in control of the American federal government. Democrats or Republicans. No 3rd party is even remotely viable. Not even close. And no 3rd party is even trying to be.

Now, less than a year ago America found out what happens if you don’t vote or vote 3rd party. The answer is fascism. Fascism happens. Because the fascists are crossing their fingers and hoping you stay home or blow your vote on a 3rd party.

So you can take these facts and use them to make intelligent decisions in the future, or you can keep posting emotional, unhelpful comments like the one you just posted. I’m crossing my fingers you make the intelligent decision.

Guys there’s no solution but to vote DNC. Vote blue no matter who. It doesn’t matter if they cheat in the primaries or run a cop for president or cherry pick LGBT rights or refuse to make any concessions to the left at all, the only option is the one the democratic establishment runs. You can’t run for office or win office, you don’t have the choice to run third party, you can’t do anything but keep playing their game.

If the DNC wants to win an election, Mamdani is showing them exactly how to do it. It’s too late to make the “but fascism will happen” fascism is already happening and the DNC is spineless, cowardly, and performatively powerless. The threat doesn’t work any more.

          I mean it’s a pretty simple question.

Would you rather have Dems in power right now or Republicans? There is no other option that’s going to happen in reality.

Reminder that none of this insane crazy bullshit was happening before January.

Not really my fault the DNC couldn’t run a candidate that could beat DJT.

Why not? Keep telling yourself that and it’s true.

and I’m pretty sure it’s theater to make him more likeable for a future bid for the presidency - the more Gavin Newsom can alienate the unlikeable and perceived weirdo elements of the Democrats, the more he probably thinks he has a chance of picking up conservative voters in addition to the moderate Dems who would still vote for him, I wouldn’t be surprised if this were an electoral strategy …

If it didn’t exist, they’d never get votes.

The problem is that it’s rapidly shrinking in part because of their strategies and in part because they don’t call out the other party on their shit more often.

yes, I was being hyperbolic - Clinton successfully ate the Republicans’ lunch by being a better conservative than them, so it seems like a consistent strategy. Democrats are more interested in appealing narrowly to reliable voters, rather than trying to appeal to people who refuse to vote, haven’t ever voted, or other disenfranchised non-voters, which is a mistake because the number of people eligible to vote, but who don’t reliably vote, make up a very large portion (so much that they make up the largest block of voters, larger than Dem or GOP voters in most elections - a reason electoral abstentionism seems like an unlikely strategy, since a majority already abstain with no significant impact to the government’s sense of legitimacy).

Partly this is an issue of Dems being elitist, they are not into populist politics and prioritizing the lower classes in their rhetoric, and part of this is just basic electoral strategy and the kind of established, expert-approved approach to winning elections.

Why the things he’s saying now it seems they’re going directly for right-wing voters. But right-wing voters already have a party that serves their flavor of bigotry just fine, and they have strong brand loyalty. These corporate Democrats have no clue, but probably some consultant told them this would work.

the center may be more transphobic than you think, he isn’t using right wing dog or wolf whistles like Elon and Trump, he’s mostly taking an anti-trans stance which might be somewhat popular and might be one of those dividing issues that keep otherwise “centrists” from voting for a Democrat (though mostly what polling indicates is voters don’t care about the trans issue, because the GOP is flaming a moral panic about it, that is what remains salient for Dems of what the “other side” cares about).

The really funny part is that they keep trying it and it keeps not working, but clearly the problem is that they didn’t do it hard enough the last 3 elections.

I don’t care for the “mocking Trump by copying him” strategy. Brainless supporters can have their family members die or be deported and will still vote for him.

It’s just adding to the noise. I’ll be happy to be proven wrong regardless.

yeah it just seems cringey as fuck to me. It more contributes to my theory that Gavin has seen that the old liberal playbook is failing, and has decided to copy the fascist’s. Shit like this is not helping his case.

The phrasing seems like a stretch. Everyone involved is cis, nobody was pointedly refusing to use preferred pronouns. Misgendering implies there was something transphobic happening (not that that wouldn’t also be kind of on brand for Newsom). Just more vaguely queerphobic mysoginist BS from Newsom, pretty on brand, he’s a POS, what else is new.
