IMO the (now) perfect blend of Black Metal and Americana. Wayfarer have been trying to interpret Black Metal on the grounds of Wild West vibes for years now. And this record now nails it.
I am regularly surprised how well BM mixes with other musical styles.

Link is the opener The Thousand Tombs of Western Promise. Also check out The Cattle Thief
Great album cover by the way.

I love seeing other cultures putting their own spin on it, like we’ve got death/black with middle eastern influence Narjahanam - Alzawabe’a or Welkin - 武勇 | Emblems of Valour and its Chinese motifs.
Now unto American Gothic. Yeah it’s pretty unique, I’d pick:
- The Thousand Tombs of Western Promise
- Reaper on the Oilfields
- To Enter My House Justified
- Black Plumes over God’s Country
The lyrics are quite interesting, as they paint an image of a land being poisoned by trains, steam engines, etc.
Like
Reaper on the Oilfields
A reaper on The oilfields You toiled long And you’ll toil still Your soul belongs now To the field
Black Plumes over God's Country
Smoke from the factories blends with the dust And the engine’s billowing steam The sun replaced by the darkness of this new eternity
The black of night, now the waking day as I bury another son I beg of you, why the cross forsakes? What is that I’ve done?
Hit pretty hard.
I’ll definitely keep an eye out of this band, as I’d like to see them incorporate more and more folk into their music.
Thanks for your elaborate reply. I will check out the bands you mentioned.
