Made these minis (4"X5") for a show coming up in the new year. From a series I’m doing with fire and matches titled “do you play with matches”. You can see the first work in the series on my profile.
Mixed media and fire.
Looks cool. Sort of a mixed media. Are the match stick part wooden? They look like some sort of paper. How much of the black is from actually burning?
The matchsticks are cardboard. All are actually burned as is the mounting board to get the proper shape. The matchsticks themselves have added blackening.
Put a matching sock over each unburnt end. That’s art. Sock art. I am a little bit of an artist myself, you know. If a piece doesn’t have a sock it isn’t sock art. But it could be. Just put a sock on it. Bam! Sock art. I rest my case and leave the art business forever - undefeated sock artist '25. Peace out ✌️
