Honestly, the Air Force involvement helped SG1 feel grounded in the best possible way. I take this as a positive sign for the series.
I hadn’t heard that, but it has the hilarious implication that Stargate Universe doesn’t have a Space Force, despite actually having instantaneous travel to a shit ton of other worlds for decades.
the space force doesn’t do anything related to actual combat, so why would the show partner with them?
Propaganda.
Don’t they run the satellite tracker now?
Just deep space radar telemetry
The Air Force partnership involved consultation about noncombat aspects of the organization as well, to make sure the depiction was accurate. Details like uniforms, on-base conduct, chain of command, etc. A partnership with some other military branch would likely be similar.
Iirc if any film wants to use the us military in any way they have to go through them and they have strict rules about what can be shown and what not (aka propaganda) which Includes certain colors that are copyrighted iirc that shows can’t show without the us military involvement
