I don’t understand how anyone can defend countries/governments that completely ignores human rights and the Geneva Conventions. It can never be justified to commit such atrocities.

The media certainly is biased. But it is a different situation. Israel took over the West Bank in the 60’s (from Jordan). Isreal literally ‘changed the map’ for the territory is has controlled for decades. Whereas Russia just claimed established Ukranian land some of which they don’t even control.
We can dress it up in all manner of legality but the outcome is the same to the people affected and the West’s bias towards settler-colonialism seems to only flourish with time.
What Putin illegally annexed territories is really bullshit. Russia had to pass several laws to incorporate new territories.
