Maybe this is just me, but I think decreasing the amount of government money being paid to landlords going down by more than 10% in a single budget is a good thing.
This includes the £3.5m the government pays each day to billionaire landlord Graham King, the 154th wealthiest person in the UK, to provide migrant and refugee accommodation via his housing outfit, Clearsprings. This contract alone would eat up the mansion tax receipts in less than a fortnight.
Put another way, the government is paying for services it uses. But Novara Media thinks the government should use services and not pay anything?
The government can make compulsory purchases of land and buildings. Pay him off once, then sell the properties once they’re no longer needed would be a sensible thing to do.
