My palace burnt down … who are you again? … and where am I?

That’s why I write down my account number, so I never have to go in there.
A mind is for thinking, a pencil is for remembering.
Worth noting that writing things down is bad for long term memory. Your brain is a muscle, if you delegate, it won’t stay fit.
Do you remember your entire grocery list every time you go to the store? I need to write mine down, and I have excellent memory recall. Some things are just better to write down. Furthermore, those who don’t write things down I find usually aren’t using their memories for recall, they just forget things.
Yes, a grocery list isn’t hard to remember at all if you have somewhat decent memory. It’s made even easier if you know where the items are in the store since you can memorise the distance and path instead of the items themselves.
That’s cool and all, but why did you “write down” your account number by keying it into my car?
Uh you mean my car that you’ve been “borrowing” for the past 10 years?
I said I’d return it in a week or 2 and I will. There’s no need to remind me every year.
On behalf of everyone with aphantasia, no that doesn’t work for me. Sigh. `
So thats where that went.
Agent: I need your account number
Me: I have no fucking idea. Can you find it from my phone number?
Agent: Sure, no problem
Me: Then why the fuck….?
Because your phone number might not be connected to the account you want the info on.
Yeah, suppose so
They should just ask if you’re calling from the number associated with your account, they usually ask me that, anyway
Yeah, that’s usually what we did (I worked in support). But even then, we had several other verification steps, so random people couldn’t easily abuse the system. Which used to include account number, among other things.
