That’s a reason why we need to make sure old games are playable forever.
I have a working Playstation 3 so I wouldn’t have any trouble playing these if I wanted to, but what’s gonna happen in 20 years? Especially with modern games where the disc is just a key or has a broken game before updates?
What happened with mine a long ago is the controllers died in various ways and only replacements available were off brands that don’t respond the same making a lot of the more challenging bits in some games impossible.
I tried couple of off brands one but they were pretty bad quality. I have gotten one of those usb sticks that allow you to connect any controller now. So, dual sense or DS4 can work with it properly now. Also supports Switch controllers, and probably 3rd party controllers that emulate these controllers.
(I am using https://mayflash.com/product/magic_s_ultimate.html , but there are others too.)
Yeah I also had to repair my controllers as the contact patches inside weren’t working properly.
That’s why we need reparaibility, retroconpatibility and emulation 😅
It is shameful that they never put more effort into making this work.
