I have no idea. Not even counting my displayed collection, i have a pile of rocks on my kitchen counter, and two boxes of rocks on the floor, plus more rocks around in various places…

I guess about 20? I keep some cool rocks I’ve found on trips as mementos in a bowl under my Buddha statue, well, two are cool pieces of wood.

The foundation of my house is made of boulders, do those count?

I have several dozen free of metal contamination that are in my turtle tank and aquariums. I found them on hikes, at beaches, and from lots of different regions.

I also have a bunch that have metal contamination (slag or natural deposits) which are in a jar because they kill invertebrates so can’t have them in the tanks.

Other than that I have lava rock on top of most of my plants.

IN my home? Not that many, just the extra special ones. Sapphires and opal I dug myself, a few fossils that are kind of fragile, and some… um…“spicy” rocks. In double containment.

In my office are tons of neat hand specimens I found over the years. A few in my car I haven’t categorized yet. A decent quantity of B-tier rocks that I could still do something with around the yard. Ooh, and 2 different landscape collections I keep at work.

Oh, and then: I have a house in another town that I lived in for 15 years. That place is fully landscaped and half buried with rocks :D It’s the “home base.”
