It bears mentioning that ICE has been aggressively harassing non-white cops as well, and the cops are getting pissed too, because they thought they were safe, and they’re definitely not.

This is a developing story, and I would like to give Walz the benefit of the doubt that he wants those cops there to make sure no other protesters get killed, until proven otherwise.
It’s a very slim hope, but those are the only ones we have left. I don’t think your cynicism or the resulting criticisms are misplaced though, and I fear you might be right.

One officer responded mockingly as he walked away, telling them: “Boo hoo.” Agents elsewhere shoved a yelling protester into a car. Protesters dragged garbage dumpsters from alleyways to block the streets, and people who gathered chanted, “ICE out now,” referring to Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.
