Worried about losing unified Republican power in Washington and mystified at his lack of support among the public, President Donald Trump keeps talking about not holding the November midterm elections, when Republicans could lose control of the House, Senate or both.
There’s lots of stuff Trump “can’t” do that he’s absolutely doing, with impunity. Expect more.
Yep, the Republican party has known since at least the Obama years that they can do whatever they want and the Democrats will (at most) complain how hypocritical they’re being. This is the logical next step.
“Trump” trying to cancel the election is the Republican party trying to cancel the elections. He is just the frontman for a power apparatus that has been working toward this very moment for 50 years. After all, only a handful of principled Republican legislators (lol. lmao.) would be needed to stop everything he’s doing. But we don’t see that. Why not? They are so close to never having to worry about reelection again—they’re certainly not going to stop now.
It’s not the democrats job to check these actions, it’s the other 3 letter departments that are carrying out his illegal actions.
Wouldn’t it be hilarious if this backfired by convincing his followers who believe every word that comes out of his foul mouth that the are no midterms, affecting their turnout?
I worry even worse events than Jan 6th will occur.
At this point, though, it’s inevitable to prevent the blade from falling. Best we can do is try and guide where it falls.
Why cancel the midterms if he can fake the results. Like he probably did in 2024.
