Supreme Tribunal of Justice Judge Tania D’Amelio announced the verdict, stating that TikTok was negligent in not implementing “necessary and adequate measures” to prevent the spread of dangerous challenges. The court’s ruling not only penalizes TikTok financially but also mandates the establishment of a local office in Venezuela within eight days. If TikTok fails to comply, the company could face unspecified “appropriate measures,” further escalating the situation.

The tragic incidents involved at least three teenagers dying and 200 others being intoxicated after participating in social media-driven challenges that circulated within school environments. These events have sparked a broader conversation about the responsibility of tech platforms in safeguarding their users, particularly minors who might be more susceptible to peer pressure or the allure of viral content.

I don’t know, but as a journalist I wouldn’t mention that either, just for not promoting / spreading potentially dangerous content. It’s bad enough that they see that on Tiktok.

Lmao what. ‘This thing that tiktok is getting fined over that our kids participated in is too bad for us to even tell you what it was’

So do you think people are going to read it in your ‘reporting’ and go out and try it? You must have a really low opinion on the people reading it. Or do you think your reporting is influential enough to convince people to do whatever this was? I dont get it.

I think you don’t know who is going to read that if and when you publish that in a paper or some other media. The next teenager could be encouraged to do the same. There is no reason why you would spread garbage from some social media account further.

No, but I think you don’t know who is going to read that if and when you publish that in a paper or some other media. The next teenager could be encouraged to do the same. There is no reason why you would spread garbage from some social media account further.
