Say the people who have soldered on ram in their latest lunar lake mobile chips
Intel wants laptops to become as modular as desktop PCs
Okay? Then start selling socketed mobile chips again. You’re the one that made laptops unupgradable when you switched to BGA only and now you’re pretending to want a solution to that?
- Embrace <— you are here
- Extend
- Extinguish
I read something about super flat RAM with 512 lane ball connections? As a Cheap and fast alternative to hbm?
Industry standard CPU socket?
Thin Graphics Cards with less than 80 watt power draw?
Nooo it was just a dream.
In reality it is much more profitable if every hardware vendor makes their own console-like PC. Unfortunately Intel is treading water. Wildly flinging any idea into the world and see if anything sticks. I do not think they have the money to get to the extend part. But one can dream.
adopt the framework standard or something, create an industry alliance to make it happen. get third party vendors to adopt it.
anything. just move away already from the monolithic disposable laptop. please.
I feel like this has been tried many times before.
