There’s always something at least a little off about anybody who earns a PhD.
I’ve met a lot of them, and some of them are good at hiding it, but it’s always something…
Depression and existential dread!

Despite the picture, in both marriage and PhD programs approximately 50% of successful candidates are women.
The chance of divorce is actually closer to 25% these days! Also, the original 50% figure was heavily skewed by people who had divorced previously, just FYI.
Kind of a bummer if the culmination of a marriage is the wedding ceremony I think. The birth of our kids, buying our first house, celebrating new jobs and milestones with each other, and signing the divorce papers were all more significant climatic events in my marriage anyway.
I found out today a moron I went to grad school with published a successful book. He’s also an “important” person’s son, though, so it’s less of a jealous thing more of the “this world’s fucked” thing.
My PhD isn’t super useful though so yeah, throw it in the remorse file.
Would be funny if the “important” person was Jordan Peterson
