The reason for ‘quietly’ is probably that it’s an experimental alpha release

This is an experimental Alpha release, and your input is crucial!

How does this compare to ollama?

    Anti Commercial-AI license

I don’t think ollama can run locally on your phone, only as a client to your computer. This one appears to run entirely on a phone.

Seems like a bad idea to run a LLM on a phone.

Maybe they want to showcase their AI chips running compact models on their Pixel phones. It would almost certainly be a bad idea on my phone…

You should not use google software to do things FOSS already does better

Really you shouldn’t use any google software

      It’s Apache 2.0 licensed. It’s FOSS.

It’s not FOSS. Because a corporate never gives stuff for free without benefit for itself.

You know I think I was pretty clear that “FOSS that isn’t Google” was the goal here. If that’s not clear, the goal is to not use Google software when there are non-Google FOSS alternatives.

If you need further explanation let me know.
