Introducing my dog Dusty (named for Dusty Springfield).
At first I thought he ws on a very slim edge next to a huge drop and was very concerned.
Classic name for a cattle dog
I love ACDs. Such great dogs, except for the ankle bites to herd people.
If I had a farm or a big plot of land, I would have one without question.
Mine doesn’t do the ankle bites! But he’s always on watch and he barks a lot. -_-
That is a blessing.
I have met probably 6 ACDs off leash in their home and I think every one tried to get me to go somewhere with a nip. It may have been because they all were in houses or apartments so they couldn’t satisfy their urges through work or running around. I think most of those had kids in the house, so that may have played a part?
Mine is not a pure ACD to be fair. Half ACD, half Dal. He’s a great watch dog, and he does do a little herding, but he doesn’t do the ankle bites. He also grew up in shelters. I adopted him at 2 years old so he may have habits from that time.
DuckyThe Dal probably mutes a lot of the ACD peculiarities.
I bet he is a pretty zoomie boy.
He is FAST. I speculate if I took the time to do agility training, he would dominate. But we’re content doing walks and cuddling on the couch for now.
Dusty absolutely needs to be given some belly rubs. clearly he’s starved of them
This is a very good boy. I can tell. I have a knack for this kinda thing.
