A new organization against the U.S. blockade of Cuba is born in Jacksonville, Florida

Beyond beliefs and differences, but united by one goal: lifting the blockade, the Jacksonville branch of the “Hands Off Cuba” U.S. Committee was born, the first in Florida’s most populous city.

“The Jacksonville community is coming together to break the #blockade and support #Cuba, and far from being a one-time gathering, this event marked the beginning of a new chapter of solidarity with Cuba in the Deep South,” Hakim Jihad, the group’s coordinator, told Prensa Latina.

During the inaugural meeting…a report was heard from the delegation that recently traveled to the May Day festivities in #Havana.

“The energy in the room was electric, marked by curiosity, enthusiasm, and a deep desire to know the truth about Cuba beyond the lies of U.S. imperialist propaganda,” he commented.
