10·7 days agoI wouldn’t put much weight in the results of this poll. Its only 369 voters with a variance of +/-5.1 points. So even using the polls own reliability variation, the actual vote could end up being 50.9% in favor of Crockett to 49.1% in favor of Talarico.
It also somehow found that seniors and non-college educated voters prefer the energetic young black woman to a reserved white christian man born in Texas to a Baptist preacher. Color me surprised, but that seems like an anomaly in historical poll data going back hundreds of years.
No, just a waste of compute and electricity.

8·8 days agoBecause sometimes its better to not ask if you can or should and instead try. It was obviously popular enough that it still has a soft spot in many tech enthusiasts’ minds. And arguably its the element of any OS that you encounter the most. Going from your home computer to even just a computer at the public library, one thing was almost guaranteed to be the same and that’s the desktop background.So why not make it really high quality? They had no idea how far resolution would come and what would end up being sufficient, but because of their decision, even now people seek out that image for their desktops.

That’s what’s crazy to me, they survived the dot com crash and were so diversified that I have no idea how they stayed afloat. I would think that all of the combined expenses across all of their ventures without a true cash cow would sink them. Instead they survived and became the trash heap of consumer rights violations that they are.
You can’t really compare online book retailer Amazon to global online marketplace Amazon. Your underlying point is still mostly correct, but I would exclude the years that they were primarily focused on books. From my lived memory they didn’t really become the online retail juggernaut until a few years after the launch of Prime. Free shipping turned them into what it is today. So maybe the best comparison would be from like 2006-2016? Or maybe I’m wrong and the distinction isn’t necessary. Idk. I’m just trying to foster conversation
I currently own the 2023 Motorola edge+ and love it. Its got flagship features at like half the price. I bought it for like $700 2-3 years ago.
The ONLY real drawback that I’ve had over 2 years is that the front glass is curved and breaks too easily for being Gorilla Glass. The curved design also means that case options are super limited so its a double whammy.
