The main goal is to invite news users to contribute together and form some team and works together. To create some teamwork, collective.

It is not intended to remplace it’s current development but help us to advance on several topic as translation, communication, small bug.

I saw a hackathon for yeswiki and it worked quite great. Devs who usually worked far aways in various countries meet each other IRL, talked about their daily life, then discussed about their project, technological choice then coded during the whole week-end.

Honnestly, i think it is great way to know each other, have fun. As long you don’t put an absurd deadline.

Good idea for the matrix instance altough i prefer zulip for its channel management. Can you manage that ? :)

Anyway, we need a tool for teambuilding, a very simple one where we can share our need and ask for help without overhelming devs space.

The main idea of this project is too invite news users to give some time and contribute on few tasks. :)

Do as you want, some people will use the checkbox, other won’t. Some will block people that post AI content without telling them or report it to the mod team. Some mod may flag AI content, i’m part of them, i will flag them if i can do so.

Personal opinion, i consider, given the current trend, we need to build a place where we can trust each other.

You may not be aware of the current state of server management. Lot AI bots were spotted or repported. There is 2 kinds of AI bots : crawlers and chat bot.

Crawler are uterlly destroying the server capacity : they take lot bandwidth so the speed our pages’s load is affected. They also take lot memory ressource. A sysadmin shared his experience on how his hard drive were burnt by crawlers. He admitted he didn’t put any defence system as Anubis.

And there is chat bot interacting with users. That’s a more serious problem because of their influence : they may follow a political agenda. You don’t know why it is here nor who use them. You may not spot them and interact with them. How would you fell if you spent hours interacting with a bot instead of a human ? Bad. Not happy. You will start being suspicious of anyone, everyone.

Being careful anytime is exhausting. Verifying is exhausting. But you can offer users a way to trust you and chose.

That’s mostly the reason why this checkbox exist :

• because of AI content
• because we want a place were we can share our opinion and trust each other.

So it’s not about you. It’s about trust.

I may misunderstood but did you told me that you use AI because other people use it. Or were you talking about flaging AI content ?

If you have good ressource on ecological side of AI and rare earth, i’m interested because i don’t have lot informations. Most of the tell us that they are building nuclear reactor. You may want create a post and invite use to raise our knowledge on these topics.

Most of my knowledge come from the ADEME (french ecological structure that analyse various situation), and they did predict metal ressource depletion around 2050.

More exactly, digging machine will have a lower mining rate for a given ressource. We will have to remove lot more earth to find iron, copper… it’s the same problem for oil.

And for the misuse of AI, that’s the scale of it that worry my the most : governement and big tech. Especially big tech, i’m fearfull of them. I would prefer a collective solution : made by people, for people and respecting human diversity and right.

I haven’t given example of OpenAI but Microsoft is one of its main investor. They were at Trump meeting with other american big tech. So my trust that was already low dropped to the bottom. 😅

Name one resource you think is “beyond sustainability”. Rare earth? Water? Energy? None are and this meme really has to die.

It is not a meme, it is happening and i know that you work there and are probably the most knowledgeable person among us.

However, you can’t dimiss that they do use ressource as water, rare earth…The problem is that they benefit outrageous funds and double their calculation power each year.

There is also a huge difference in what a good artist can produce in one hour and what I can produce in one hour. Yet my work is considered (pretty reasonably) to be of less value. There is no inherent value in spending time on a work if the result is considered good enough.

That’s not about the result but the road to learn through hardship how to create something. It create a feeling of fullness. If you give yourself more time, you could achieve a good work instead relying on a third party and tell your kid “i did it”.

Hmmm, no? In almost any case I can think of.

Being the fault of someone is not my point. I explain why the option to flag AI content is needed.

The goal is to empower people by giving them a choice. A set of tools, options to create their own space along mod team.

It is the belief that we can stand up and purpose solutions to allow people to remove AI content from their timeline. It is also a defence system for everyone and create space where we think and write our own opinion.
