I do because it currently doesn’t have ads

He probably got downvoted because he didn’t have a point, or at least a clear one.

Once Blacksky’s AppView launches, can we retire the “Bluesky is not really federated” discourse?

I didn’t know there were people who saw that as a bad thing when it comes to software.

What does this even mean?

I like the idea but I don’t think that will counteract the gross environmental damage that his data centers cause.

Last week’s moderation debacle really demonstrated the urgent need for alternative AppViews.

As far as I can remember, as long as some nostr relay contains that data you want, you can access it. Here is a long blog post about the differences between nostr and ATProto.

I made a typo. I meant wafrn.net.

Anyway, check out wafrn.net.

As far as I know, it is a pretty Americentric platform. I’m pretty sure there is decent levels of discussion on American sports, but that’s not something I pay attention to. My Following feed is mostly uspol and video games.

I want to sign in to every alternative AppView, but I’m starting to get a little concern that one of these will try to phish my credentials

That is by design. From a user’s perspective, the only indication that Bluesky is decentralized federated is the option to select a different “hosting provider” when logging in.

I think it’s reasonable to assume that when OP asked about “joining” each platform, they wanted to use each platform natively.

No. For each Mastodon, Lemmy, or Peertube server you want to join, you need a separate account on the server.

I don’t care

I don’t know what the point of the gif is, so I’m not going to respond to it.
Is Matrix federated? That’s also centralized
Do you live in Western Europe?
