Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

it’s so gooooooood, one of my favorite games in the last decade, I’m so excited!

the PSP was so far ahead of it’s time
I remember my friends just getting their new Razor flip phones and I’d be sitting next to them switching between a triple A game, retro emulators, homebrew, browsing the web, running custom software (hacked psp), listening to music and even making calls and sending texts with the skype app. Needed wifi but it felt like I had a whole laptop in my pocket in an era of still mostly dumb phones.

your ancestors would be proud, I feel like everyone should bake at least one loaf in their lives just as a connection to our past (and one of our favorite foods)
may your dough always rise and your loaves taste great!

zulip is great, not really a discord replacement, they don’t have built-in streaming/video/voice but it’s a great chat server and seems like a very ethical open-source project with a backing business, I’ve got nothing but praise for them

having lived in Boston this is not terribly surprising, street parking is straight up hunger games when there’s snow on the ground

that looks promising, I think I can see a path forward there, I still need to dig into the new calendar functionality, thanks for sharing!

Forgot to add, something I really want to figure out is how to do reminders with it. I’m stuck using Gemini on my phone for that and I’d really love to find a way to do that in HA if anyone has any tips.

We’ve been using the previews since they shipped. The Mycroft wake word has worked well enough for the whole family. Tried the chatbot fallback but the syntax of the intent parser is strict enough we were getting routed to the llm way more than we wanted. For example asking it to turn on a light and Claude telling us it couldn’t do that. It fails faster and more reliably with just the intent parser.
Our favorite use case is shopping lists. “Hey Mycroft add greens to groceries list” is great and won me some WAF. I also regularly use timers, some custom commands (hey Mycroft I fed the dog), and managing lights with scenes (hey Mycroft turn on Daytime).
I’m hoping to one day transition to a local llm that’s fine tuned for homeassistant specific tasks and it looks like some good ones will arrive soon. The existing implementations haven’t won me over yet.
Dunno, I’m a big fan and the wife doesn’t hate them, I’m really optimistic about the future of these. I think HA is going about them the right way and we’ll see good things in the future. It’s a little rough right now if you’re not willing to put up with the quirks probably but I think it’s just going to keep getting better.

My body is ready!

To the moon!

This is 1000% true but some people need the gui and that’s probably ok too
I had never heard of this and I thought it was really interesting! Thanks for sharing

I don’t know if I believe this anymore ☹️

Quality bestof post, thanks for sharing!
I did soylent for a year or two back in like 2015, 2 meals a day on average over 5 servings iirc
I really appreciated it. I know for a fact it helped me eat better. Before the soylent I was eating a lot of fast food and quick meals from the grocery store. Not a lot of fruits or vegetables. I felt better on the soylent and lost weight.
TMI Warning My physical experience was a lot of gastrointestinal…movement? My stomach gurgled a lot. Like all the time. My stools were loose and annoying to clean. ** End ** My energy also spiked really hard after meals and dropped quickly after a few hours. I figured it was the type of sugar they were using at the time. Hopefully they’ve improved this.
I enjoyed my time on soylent and would recommend it to people who feel it’s a good fit for their life. Eventually the flavor got old and it wasn’t cheap and I’ve worked harder to eat healthier since then. If you do it I recommend researching flavoring tips and maybe getting one of those small blender setups. Lets you mix up just about anything into it.
