Pulled the CC data from downsub, asked AI to summarize, then reviewed the CC to make sure it was accurate.
It’s mostly fluff centered around data about a couple of new packs and claimed ranges.
20 kWh Pack
30 kWh Solid‑State Pack
Claims to be largest motorcycle battery of its kind
SO they’re decently large, can charge quickly, I’d be a bit surprised if they were getting those actual ranges in real-world scenarios.
One too many apparently :)
I’ll survive.

I love EVERYTHING there except
Saved servers and settings will not be migrated from Jellyfin Media Player.
I can fix it, and it’s no big deal, but I provide services to friends and family who’ll need me to walk them through it.
That’s the stuff where we lose out to corporate products.

Maryland scrapped single-use bags a few years ago. I doubt it did a huge amount to keep things out of the landfill / recycle stream, but it DID get them out of the local outdoor environment which is a huge win to me. I think there are slightly more consumers who use durable, reusable bags, and of course, quite a few with shitty reusable bags that likely won’t last their own carbon footprint.
I don’t think it’s a winnable battle until people are in charge of carrying their own containers. Everything needs to be distributed in bulk. But if we just carry around a ton of plastic containers, we’re just in the same rut. Metal sucks because you can’t see through it and glass that’s durable enough for the purpose is heavy AF.
When you’re eating for one, you can get away with fast food. Sure, it’s expensive, but achieving an economy of scale while feeding one person requires taking an Adulting 401 class.
You’re gonna spend a lot, but less than what you would probably waste.
Your parents can buy a $5 bag of potatoes and make fries for days :)
My teen can demolish a family-sized box of mac and cheese and a side of veggies.
The real pain for your parents is probably waste.
7YO: I WANT NOODLES,
makes them noodles
they don’t eat the noodles
Me: Why didn’t you eat your noodles?
7YO: I DON’T WANT NOODLES!
Me: What do you want?
7YO: I DON’T KNOW!
I don’t know what I’m making them next, but now I know I’m eating noodles for dinner… 🎵come on hot sauce, my old friend 🎶

I do worry about the longevity of unionization in the gaming industry. There’s a lot of churn and high demand for the positions. There’s remote work now, scabs don’t even need to show up to cross the picket line.

Yeah the cap they introduced is damning. They just cut it back a touch… Oh, if you want to play a lot, you have to pay just a little bit more. It wasn’t enough to make them bank or pay for 15 more hours of server costs; it was a toe in the water to gauge the community’s appetite to pay more for less.

That’s indeed where they’re headed. I was just clarifying what the service was. I wouldn’t pay for the service. I buy/play what I can run. When I do buy a game, I try to move toward non DRM titles, if I do buy a drm title and there’s a stripped version, i’ll always tuck it away in case steam ever loses their mind.

I cannot convince my wife that the whole “best by” crap is largely an attempt to increase purchases.
She also goes by the “best by” date on sealed bottled water.
I’m like, smell it, if it doesn’t smell bad, taste it. If you feel the urge to ask someone else if it smells/tastes bad, it needs to go. If it’s not so full of death that you can’t sense it, your stomach acid will take care of it.

You sign into it, they run the game on their machine, and give you a magically low-latency connection to that server.
They just got it working reasonably well for most users.
Of course, they also just announced hour caps for usage and extra charges in blocks of 15 hours.

I guess my next phone is going to run NixOS.

Ahh so they’ll use this to eliminate bots and multi-account trolls right?
right???

I break HDCP right now. Those keys have been leaked for AGES. $10 amazon HDMI copy in between your videocard and the capture.

It will happen eventually. All they need to do is start new/rotating keys on wildvine and put the ads at random times right in the stream, then disable fast forward if you use it to skip ads. It’ll be a UX hit, so it’ll need to be worth it to them.
In the end, they can’t stop us from HDMI capturing and using comskip to detect / remove but there are a million ways to play tag between where we are now and that which don’t require people posting videos to pirate bay :)

US Govt is aligning with Israel.
US Govt is aligning with Russia.
Russian Govt is aligning against Israel.
Wonder if they’re going to agree to disagree or if someone’s gonna change sides…

Yeah, have at it, the barrier to entry on taking some payments and distributing it to people is so high that no one else can possibly get in that market…

You might not need 50 amps now. But that line is a 1 time cost and maybe you’ll want to weld one day.

Not where I was going for that, more like museum pieces. He’s really done a bunch of shit we absolutely should NOT have allowed. A president, releasing a phone, while in office for a grift. Our great grandkids (hopefully) will be walking through the Smithsonian going what the FUCK was going on in the 20’s, and one of these e-waste POS will be sitting there staring back at them.
Looks like it’s a POC. The entire 2-day show was run on battery power + inverters. They set up a stage, lights, and sound, and ran it for long stretches without having mains available. No details on KWH or actual design; I expect the batteries were in trucks or sea crates.
I could see this being useful for doing shows in rural areas or older venues without sufficient power. It would also drive companies to make more efficient gear, which is something not commonly on production radar.
