In my experience, that’s how most local pizzaria pizza is. It’s just the big chains that have shit pizza.
Yeah, local pizzeria, full after two slices, stuffed after three.
Chain pizza place, eat a whole “large” and be glad you got a garlic bread too. Although I often stop eating when the “I’m hungry” is cancelled out by the “this is shit” which is usually half to three-quarters. And there’s zero excitement for having leftovers to heat up later.

If I understand correctly this has something to do with a change in how the mozzarella is made, they use some sort of acid inoculation now (because it’s cheaper) and it makes the proteins shorter and less stringy.
