Summary

Donald Trump’s re-election would have sweeping domestic and international consequences, affecting areas like abortion, immigration, gun control, LGBTQ+ rights, the environment, and foreign policy.

Domestically, Trump is expected to weaken gun-safety laws, restrict abortion access, roll back LGBTQ+ rights, and target freedom of the press. His administration could also push for aggressive deportation policies and clamp down on protest movements.

Internationally, Trump’s “America First” approach threatens NATO unity and may embolden allies like Israel to take unilateral actions in the Middle East.

Environmental protections and climate change efforts would likely suffer severe setbacks under his leadership.

“Immigration” has never been under threat from any party. Donors on both sides need immigration to continue. The difference is one party generally likes to keep immigrants in exceptionally precarious conditions to coerce them to accept low wages. The other party makes token changes that appear raise the immigrant standard of living to something approximating the lower class with limited efficacy.

Just for the sake of the fact that deporting millions of people as promised would require concentration camps, I sure hope you’re right.

Nope. They instituted serious anti-immigrant laws here in Florida that severely hurt many businesses. For example, enormous construction projects just stopped. Just Google, “Florida immigrant law halts construction” and you’ll get all sort of fantastic examples.

So yes: Right wingers did shoot themselves in the foot in order to hurt immigrants (which is what their base truly wants in their heart of hearts). The Republican legislature knew it would be horrible for the economy. They knew it was going to hurt innocent people and loads of small businesses.

They didn’t care. That’s what the Republican party is all about, after all: Not caring. They will actively seek to hurt their perceived enemies no matter what! Consequences be damned!

I am putting my small amount of hope in the inability of the federal government to get anything done.

If you are looking to access abortion in a state that might not allow it, check out the four thieves vinegar collective. It is apparently at least somewhat easy to make your own abortion medication and put it on three by five note cards and mail it if needed.
