It was hand colored, so it’s kind of a mix of photography and painting.
I love these kinds of prints, the experimentation in early photography is really interesting. The Library of Congress has an extensive photocrom collection that’s fascinating to look through.
The first “Flatiron Building” was the one in Atlanta (1897), according to Google, preceding the one in New York by 5 years.
That’s really cool. I’ve been planning on ordering some prints, framing them and doing a photo collage on my wall. I think I’ll include this.
