I’ve started baking bread this year and it’s been fun.

The “hardest” part is deciding to make the dough at night before I go to bed so it can ferment overnight. But the next day, all I need to do is throw it in the oven for 45 minutes and bam, fresh bread.

I’m struggling to get the crust right, though. It tends to come out very chewy rather than crispy

Two things can help get a crispy crust: Put a pie pan with some water in the oven along with the bread, or spray or sprinkle water on the crust while it’s baking

I’ve always watered the top because a recipe had it as a step and now I know why 😄

That feeling when your David Doughie sourdough bread starter is coming along nicely, and you smell the fresh baked bread as it comes out of the oven!
