Some Arizona math teachers found themselves at the center of a controversy over the weekend after a Turning Point USA spokesman claimed their Halloween costumes were mocking Charlie Kirk’s death. The Vail School District stated that the costumes were unrelated to Kirk, the conservative activist from Phoenix who was fatally shot at a Turning Point USA event in Utah on Sept. 10 of this year. Bruce & Gaydos examine the controversy further, wondering how pundits linked the shirts to Kirk's death.
The problem is these costumes were not about CK, and had been worn at least one year prior to his assassination.
I agree making fun of his death is in horrible taste, no mater whether he deserved it or not, but just because something looks tangentially similar doesn’t mean it’s related.
