I sense a runner in the garden
Although my judgment’s known to fail
Once built a steamboat in a meadow
'Cause I’d forgotten how to sail
I know the runner’s going to tell you
There ain’t no cowboy in my hair
So now he’s buried by the daisies
So I could stay the tallest man in your eyes, babe
I sense a spy up in the chimney
From all the evidence I’ve burned
I guess he’ll read it in the smoke now
And soon to ashes I’ll return
I know the spy is going to tell you
It’s not my flag up in the pole
So now he’s buried by the lilies
So I could stay forever more in your eyes, babe
I sense a leak inside my phone now
From all the lies that I have told
I know he has your private number
And soon he’ll make that vicious call
I know the leak is going to tell you
There ain’t no puppy in your leash
So now he’ll fertilize the roses
So I could stay the king you see in your eyes, babe
In your eyes, babe
So now we’re dancing through the garden
And what a garden I have made
And now that death will grow my jasmine
I find it soothing I’m afraid
Now there is no need for suspicion
There ain’t no fraud kissing your hand
I won’t be lying when I tell you
That I’m a gardener, I’m a man in your eyes, babe
In your eyes, babe
In your eyes, babe
In your eyes, babe

I’m just soapboxing here, but the best live music performance I’ve ever seen was at a TMOE concert. Unfortunately, it was after Kristian started touring with a full band and decided not to play any of his acoustic work. Wasn’t him; his performance was mid as fuck.
His opener Lady Lamb did a full set of raw vocals and guitar and completely stole the show. Never seen an upstaging of that magnitude before or since — she had the entire crowd locked in. Her studio work doesn’t quite live up to that acoustic set, but she’s a very talented artist on the whole and I can earnestly recommend her work to anyone who’s a fan of Kristian’s first two albums.
Ah, it’s a shame to hear that you had a less-than-stellar experience at the concert, but at least you got to experience the opener too.
I haven’t ever listened to Lady Lamb, so your leaving your comment was a nice, unexpected bonus. I love when that happens. I’ll be checking out Lady Lamb as soon as I have the time, and when I do I’ll be sure to try and find some of her live work as well, if I can. Thank you for the anecdote! I appreciate it. :)
Much love <3.
Gotta say, even though the one show I saw him at was a bust, I still respect the attempt to branch out musically and think there may still be some banger TMOE releases in the future.
Let’s hope so! :)
