I can no longer in good conscious continue to upload videos to YouTube. In the last year, the company has “donated” to Trump’s Epstein Ballroom, allowed back dangerous anti-vaxxers they previously banned back, are using AI to alter videos without the creator’s consent or knowledge, and so much more.

    It’s been steadily enshittifying on the user experience side too.

    • subscription feed has been removed from the sidebar when expanded (but continues to exist when not)
    • you can no longer add a video to multiple playlists at once. now you need to wait for the toast to clear, then press the kebab menu again, for each playlist.
    • search filtering has been nerfed just today. you can’t sort results by upload date anymore.

    The last one basically makes my work curating new content on a search term impossible now. what a load of bs.
