Personally, I found the whole trump thing enough of a reason to finally switch from Gillette razors to a safety razor. Bit of a learning curve but not half bad. And it feels cooler shaving with something you could sort of hurt yourself with.

How about you?

I was mostly de-Americanized already (I’ve been distancing myself from the USA and US products since 1999), but this year has me completely de-Americanized. The only American product I use is the Android that’s in my phone, but that’s still out of reach of Google because it’s not an American phone. (And when I get a new phone it will be HarmonyOS based likely, not Android. I’m just not going to throw away a functioning phone after the horse has run out the barn.)

The last item I ditched was Coke Zero which I was drinking from habit without thinking. Someone pointed out that it was American, I stared at it and realized that I’d screwed up, so found a really nice iced tea to replace it.

I looked that up and apparently it’s the operating system for Huawai phones. I wonder if we’ll get those back again in Canada? I guess we can buy them as unlocked devices, but none of the major carriers stock them. The government has banned their networks over security issues, but I don’t know enough about it to fully understand the problem.

The problem is that they believe (without evidence) that the Chinese are spying on them with Chinese phones because that’s what Americans do (as exposed by Snowden) with American phones.
