    I sympathize with that position but the letters of Paul are still important because they are the oldest Christian writings we have. All gospels were written later based on the various oral traditions that had been passed down.

    Paul was neither a disciple nor in charge of the church, but he was the only one whose writings survived to this day.

    As such, even though the letters of Paul are arguably the least authoritative books in the New Testament, they are the most authentic.

    I would strongly NOT recommend treating Paul’s opinions as guidelines for how to live your life, but they still provide valuable insight into the character of the early church.
