Aiii… I’m a big fan of deconstructionism, and have admired his stuff for a while. Sometimes I wish he’d bump up the resolution 1-ply, but otherwise it’s just amazing what he’s able to suggest to the mind’s eye with such minimalism.
Meanwhile, those painstakingly-created, photo-realistic works that are sometimes proudly offered up here & there on social media routinely leave me ice cold, even as people routinely go gaga over their ‘brilliance of execution.’ But to me, that’s getting trapped in some Art 102-103 shizzle, when we learn to slavishly copy detail in exactitude, before (hopefully) later throwing off such chains and truly discovering our own styles.
(this mini-rant brought to you by the letter “D,” for “deconstruction”)
Oof-- but also, very cool to learn Jason’s British! That means his stuff is fair game for EGN. :D Thanks for sharing, friend!
Saaame. I love the more symbolist, vague art styles and artists. Although I do appreciate hyperrealism and yes that is a brilliant display of skill, I’m someone who appreciates vision over skill far too often.
The same goes for many artforms for me, particularly visual.
