He’s registered as a dachshund, but at 21 pounds, I’m sure he’s a mixbreed of some sort, probably mix with either beagle or terrier.
Luckily he came already house broken, so he doesn’t cause any trouble inside, he’s a fine young gentleman. Sorry the photo I shared doesn’t quite show his face, he was just basking in the sun on the balcony the other day and I figure as of now it’s probably the best quality photo I’ve gotten so far.
Some lousy asswipe of a human dropped him off at our city park around April 2024, and he was gradually drifting towards being a feral stray, surviving on whatever scraps he could find near the dumpsters. It took a while to get him to even come close, but by August he trusted us enough to bathe him and put him in the back of our vehicle.
And he’s been ours ever since, he’s now fixed, vaccinated, very friendly (unless he doesn’t trust you for whatever reason), and he won’t ever starve again. And he loves riding in the vehicle too, but he doesn’t even bother looking out the window when the vehicle is moving, he just lays down. But when we park, he gets really curious…
He doesn’t do or know any tricks though, like if you throw a ball and tell him to go fetch, he’s just gonna look at you stupid like why did you throw that LOL! But he does enjoy trips out to the park where we got him from so he can run his zoomies out and burn some calories. He’s fast too!

Oh, gosh this fills my heart! I’m so sorry he suffered, karma is real and who ever did that will receive their comeuppance. I’m glad he found a wonderful home!
My mom had to dog-sit him for a couple hours today. Mama loves him and wants us to leave him with her more often 🦮
Strays who have suffered often have to be ‘eased’ back into humans. I’m glad he found a happy ending.
