I saw some shorts of The Big Short so I decided to to revisit movies about finance assholes fucking us all over, so I watched:

Enron The Smartest Guys in the Room.
In the early 2000s before the ineptitude and greed of the mortgage backed securities destroyed the worlds there was The Enron Scandal. These guys basically fucked over California and conned millions out of people.

Margin Call
This movie puts you in the center of a Wall Street firm fucking everyone over so they can keep their private helicopters flying. It really is entertaining and does a great job of illustrating the mindset off the financial world.

The Big Short. Wow this thing makes thhe view the hood ornament on a freight train heading into the crash.
If you want to watch the reverse Dumb Money was fairly watchable
Rushmore - classic Wes Anderson with lots of kid actors who actually do a really good job
Doctor strange - was just feeling like some marvel and I hadn’t seen the first strange in years, fun special effects & usual marvel storytelling and jokes if you’re into it or not
The surfer - Nick cage thriller where he just goes completely off the rails, unpredictable in a good, jarring way
White Zombie. It was fun seeing the low-budget combined with filming, acting, and dialogue that still hailed back to the silent film era. And for how racist it could have been in 1932, it really wasn’t. Misogynist? Yes.
Goldfinger
I don’t think I mentioned this in last weeks thread but anyway it’s one of the best Bond movies. Sean Connery is the best James Bond, Shirley Bassey sings the best tune and really this movie kick starts 007 in to what it is today.
Buy Now: The Shopping Conspiracy
I’m already a conscious consumer and some of the scenes in this were just disgusting. What a world we live in…
OddJob!
Pussy Galor!
And the first time gets the Austin Martin.
Man Connery could wear a suit like no other.
I am almost incapable of seeing that title and not shouting GOOOOLLLDDDDFIIIIINNNGGGGGEEERRRR
Fuck that’s a great Bond theme
Auto Focus 3/5: I had heard about this movie and was interested in what grabbed people about it. I didn’t realize Bob Crane was just a straight up pervert, and from what the movie portrayed, not even an illegal or creepy one. Just a charming guy with an addiction that ruined his life
Bugonia 4.5/5: This was so fun, at multiple points in the story you are fully convinced Emma Stone is and isn’t an alien. Also addressing the allure of conspiracy theories is very timely
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero 3/5: I liked giving Gohan and Piccolo a movie. It has good jokes and entertaining fights
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! The Movie 2/5: I like the show better than the movie. The movie is pretty generic with the exception of the leading man’s back story except his back story doesn’t really impact the plot that much. Also you can just say your movie isn’t canon to the story, you don’t have to handwave it with some bullshit
Rocky 4/5: My first time seeing this. I didn’t know Rocky is kind of a bum and a moron, but Sly’s charisma sells it. It was a big risk for him to get this made but it gave him his career and you like to see those gambles pay off. I would be curious if there are other movies where people went all in on themselves, Megalopolis most recently comes to mind
xXx 4/5: Does this movie make any sense at all? No. However it abandons any sort of plot to do a bunch of cool stunts and that’s pretty fun
The Running Man (2025) 3.5/5: Glen just doesn’t have the juice like Arnie did. I didn’t love how he kept accidentally falling into the laps of people who wanted to help him, it was little too easy
Pitch Black 3/5: Apparently this is the first Riddick movie. It has more cool ideas than good acting and it’s clear this cast wasn’t used to working with CGI
