I’m gutted to hear this - I’m a big fan of Crucial memory and SSDs and all of my systems have at least one thing from them.
Micron will keep shipping Crucial products until the end of February 2026 and provide “continued warranty service and support.”
So only a few month left, plus however long they stay on retailers’ shelves.
This is pretty wild, I’ve bought several drives from them for myself and my customers and I honestly thought they were pretty alright considering how much I paid for them
The point being? They don’t stop because something is wrong, they stop because they only care about AI companies anymore
So consumers are getting priced out of PCs while manufacturers are prioritizing AI companies. Who will use the AI when nobody has a computer?
What’s a computer?
It’s the one that goes “beep boop boop bop boop boop bop”
No, that’s R2D2
It’s simple, peon!
All users will have dumb terminals like iPads, and all software will be a subscription-based online service! The future is now!
Almost 30 years of every computer I ever built I used Micron/Crucial memory and eventually SSDs. That really makes me worry about PC gaming and maybe even console gaming.
Wow that’s a bummer, I think the first SSD I bought to replace an HD in an old laptop was from them.
I spent $550 buying a 120gb Micron SSD when they first came out and it was the best quality of life improvement to owning a PC ever.
