Beautiful city and I can say that we’ve been fortunate enough to go there five times over the years. We’re not wealthy, just budget travelling and one of the best deals we ever found was to go on a cruise that stopped there. We were one of the last few cruise ships that docked right in the city before they stopped doing that a few years ago. The ships used to move right past of St Marks Square and the Palace … to see the ship from shore was like watching a modern apartment building moving past.

And from the ship, you could take photos of the city from 100 feet in the air!
