China has launched a revolutionary facility in the eastern province of Shandong that produces fresh water from seawater for just two yuan (US$0.28) per cubic metre, generating green hydrogen as a by-product in a breakthrough that could redefine global water and energy systems.

This seems like a byproduct from other treatments. Paywalled so I could just read a little bit.

        Thanks.

There is not a word about the tech, but many many “china” “USA”, … Sunds like a propaganda piece.

The energy needed comes from the industry and hints that they pay for the removal of the heat (cheap cooling) so it’s not exactly scalable if you need a big industry subsidising you.

I’ll put this on hold for the moment, until better information comes out.
