Just had a decent second snowfall along with a temp drop here so took my golden to the forest preserve and alls I can say does she ever love that. We were the first out so snow was totally virgin. Well until we got there.
Not my cat but the neighbours cat sought refuge in my hoise while it was raining hard outside.
I left the window open so it could come and go, it decided to sh!t and piss on my bed.
Fun.I’m just glad it wasn’t my couch
The two pups are ok, but i still keep accidentally calling the third one’s name (we lost her at the beginning of October) when it’s time to go out to potty. Feeling guilty that i might have taken her in too soon and maybe she could have had a couple more weeks.
Three cats - after livng together for 3 years they still bicker but it might be getting better. The stubborn one is finally peeing in the box!! She’s had a sneeze for about a month. Vet gave her steroids but it doesn’t seem to be helping so i probably need to take her back in.
The most shy of my six cats has learned to put her front paws up on my leg when begging for my food 💜
Vulture, a feral from work my ex and I have been working with for awhile now, about made me cry this morning.
For a bit of context, I work at a grocery store with a large field behind it. People love dropping their unwanted animals off back there, I don’t know why, but they end up becoming something for us to deal with as they come looking for food.
Vulture was one of those cats. We had been working to catch her when she disappeared for almost a month, and then came back with her back legs barely working and shaking all over.
She’s been to the vet, they couldn’t find any cause for her condition, she’s been tested for everything and come back clean. Best guess was she had gotten hurt and had nerve damage.
Today, she was up, running around her shelter area, rubbing against the walls, talkative, excited to eat. The most life I’ve seen out of this poor cat since rescue. Don’t get me wrong, she’s been eating, drinking, physically doing okay for the shape she was in, but it was the energy around her, the look in her eyes. It was like she was finally feeling truly better.
Still doesn’t want to be pet, but that’s okay. She was happy to come around and sniff on me, sniffed my fingers, and settled down beside my feet before going after her food. She was comfortable, something she hasn’t been in far too long, and it’s given me a lot of hope for her future.
It’s been a reminder of just how rewarding rehab work can be. You always have the risk of heartbreak, but seeing one find the spark to thrive over survive just lights up everything.
Everyone is waiting for dinner. Quietly, patiently.
The guinea pigs, Rose and Daisy, are chill. Here’s a picture of Rose in their Christmas hidey this morning.

Leo, the poodle, was having a good day today.
He was found abandoned in Mississippi. Based on his age and where he was found, we’re fairly sure the little bit of flurries we had yesterday was his first snow. We think he’s having a tough time wrapping his mind around winter in Pennsylvania.
For the past few days, he’s been avoiding going potty outside. My theory is that he thinks he can wait until there’s a warmer day. He managed to empty out today, so he’s been a little lighter (in mood if not merely in digestion).
Here’s a picture of Leo:

And, to complete the pictures, here’s Daisy:
