I think you might want to add some strips for context.
Why is Mom blindfolded?

Bloom County is a serialized daily strip, this story line starts here on the 4th, it is interrupted by Sunday the 5th strip, it then continues on the 6th and the yesterday’s on the 7th.
With these serialized strips if something lacks context it is likely in a previous day’s strip.
