Damn, is this an action game?! Only reason I didn’t like the first game is I hated the shooting. If this is truly an action RPG, like it says on Steam, with no shooting, I’m down.

I hope there are launchers and air combos and shit.

I really loved the ambience of the Oldest House. Wonder if this is a genre shift from 3D Metroidvania to linear action game?

Thank you Remedy for not Epic-jailing this like with Alan Wake 2! That game is such a masterpiece that more people need to play 😭

It’s not happening. Alan Wake 2 was not just a regular Epic exclusivity deal. Literally every other publisher refused to touch the franchise. Epic didn’t just publish it, they fully funded its development. Given these circumstances, I can’t imagine it ending up on Steam in the foreseeable future - if ever.

If you can’t allow yourself to hold your nose and make an Epic account just pirate it at this point. It’s an absolutely phenomenal game and not worth missing out on over attempting to show Tim Sweeney the middle finger.

I see they’re following in Hades two’s footsteps and making the protagonist the original game’s sibling. Looking forward to this! Leaving the Oldest House certainly opens up some possibilities. I hope there are still unaffected Bureau personnel to interact with still.

I was not expecting a hack’n’slash, but this surprise is very welcome.

I love the Remedyverse and where it is going. So hyped!

I guess we’re DMC now. I loved Control and AW2, but the gameplay for both was so-so. Glad to see they’re branching out, this looks awesome.

Control was fun, but let’s be real, it’s Smack Enemy with Chair Simulator with a little bit of gunplay mixed in.

I love control’s gameplay, (didn’t like aw so skipped aw2 until my library has a free copy) I’m excited for everything about this. It is my favorite video game universe

Alan Wake 2 has a DLC that ties in pretty heavily with Control, so you’ll definitely want to play that before the new game comes out.

If gameplay is your concern then AW2 is miles ahead of the first game. It’s a very competent survival horror game in its own right, on top of all the Remedy stuff.

If you didn’t like the story then, well I dunno. It’s not like it gets less convoluted.

I missed the news about a sequel and was popping off when this showed up. Hoping it’s not as resource hungry as AW2 was, but excited either way. Control was amazing.

This could be a rare day-1 buy for me, assuming they’re not doing the Epic exclusive bullshit.

Edit: The Steam page is already up, so that’s good.

To be fair to Remedy they only partnered with Epic to get them to fund AW2, it was either a GameStore exclusive or no game to release.

Glad to see this on steam though.

I wish more people realised this. Alan Wake 1 sold really poorly, but Sam Lake and Remedy had really really wanted to make a sequel forever and literally no other publisher would touch the franchise. They tried to talk Microsoft into it but got funding refused and had to make Quantum Break instead.

Epic was their only chance to get to do their passion project, it’s not like I can blame them.

There are 2 pretty massive Alan Wake easter eggs in Quantum Break actually! Sam Lake and co were working on ideas for the sequel in the background even when the publisher weren’t interested.

Also I think the integrated TV show in Quantum Break taught Remedy a lot of valuable lessons for live-action work, that you can say they then perfected in Control and (especially) Alan Wake 2.
