Not how Executive Orders work btw, they can only affect the operations of the federal government employees, offices, and direct contractors.

The order could have far-reaching effects on US efforts to dominate the nascent technology, which has already become a significant part of the economy and the stock market but which also still remains untested in many ways.

Fucking HOW, CNN? It doesn’t just not have far reaching effects, it has zero effect.

I feel like I’m being gaslit by news organizations deciding an executive order has relevancy to state laws. They don’t even pretend that there’s some novel legal theory that could maybe allow it, they just write the whole article like it’s a royal decree and self obviously impactful.

Trump is using Executive Orders as edicts, and the media are just going along with it instead of telling the truth about it

Bad headline. This order means nothing. Executive orders are weaker than state laws. That’s it, the end.

If he wants to pass a federal law, then he can preempt the states. Federal law usually trumps state law. Until then, he can write the order and then nobody will do anything with it, and if federal lawyers try to do something with it then they will be laughed out of court.
