The idea that they (Iraq) had chemical weapons and would use them wasn’t far fetched. They had used them in the past multiple times. It was of course an obvious lie as multiple independent agencies had confirmed they were not stockpiling them.
Nevermind that the US has the largest stockpile of chemical weapons in the world.
