Hi all, I am ready to break free from consoles and want to run Bazzite on a PC connected to my living room TV. I have questions though about how to deal with multiple people having different profiles and different save files for games, while sharing the same Steam library.

I read that Bazzite Desktop allows for different linux user profiles, but does not boot straight to game mode, whereas Bazzite Deck does not allow multiple linux user profiles, but does boot straight to game mode.

I guess the question is, is it possible to set up things in a console like way where the game library is shared, but each user can have their own separate save files?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Would it be too much for me to ask you to test it out by opening a game you haven’t played but someone else has in another profile, to see if their save file shows up or not?

Yeah no problem. I just tried opening arc raiders under my wife’s steam account (which she’s never played) and it opened as if no one has ever played the game. It brought me to the "create embark id’ page.

Edit: now that I’m thinking about it, I also played ‘the last campfire’ which other family members had played and it started me off fresh

Edit 2: I really think the only time saves will be an issue is if it’s a non steam game. Like if you set up emudeck, I’m not sure how those saves work. Or any other non steam game you import to your library.

Amazing, that is a lot for testing it out!!

I’ll research alternatives for emulation. Though most of the time they support multiple save slots, so I guess that can work as an alternative.

No problem! I spent a lot of time over the holidays trying to figure out all our myself. If you have other questions feel free to reach out and I’ll help if I can.
