At the time, she announced she was stepping down from cabinet and would not run as an MP in the next federal election, whenever that may occur.

A few months later, she was named the incoming CEO of the Rhodes Trust, an Oxford, England-based educational charity. Freeland’s office confirmed she would move to the United Kingdom for the gig, which starts July 1.

She still represents the Toronto riding of University—Rosedale and has not formally announced any plan to resign as a member of Parliament.

Not too surprising. Canada’s version of Victoria Nuland. The Conservative critique in the article that this is a conflict of interest lands, loathe as I am to agree with anything from that party. She’s clearly not focused on representing the constituents of her riding and should have already stepped down from her role as an MP.

Taras Kachka, Ukraine deputy prime minister, said on Saturday that international partners have reached consensus on an economic support package of about $800 billion US for Ukraine over the next decade. The package is based on calculations by the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the European Union, and would cover damage compensation, reconstruction and economic stability and a $200-billion growth.

Money’s about to start raining so…

That’s a strange comment given that Ukraine will need significantly more than $500 billion for the reconstruction and damage repair alone (as per the latest available data from Feb 2025).

Freeland already serves as Canada’s special representative for the reconstruction of Ukraine.

Serving as a representative appointed by Canada is very different from serving as an advisor appointed by Ukraine. Can’t serve two masters, especially when there are huge financial interests involved between them.

She’ll step down as a member of Parliament in the “coming weeks” after accepting a new role.

Freeland said she would now “step aside” from that role [as Canada’s new special representative for the reconstruction of Ukraine]

Lol, did you read the article before your initial post?

The article was updated after my post, because she had not yet announced that at the time I posted, which means she had not announced it at the time you posted the comment I was replying to. She announced it hours after your comment.

It is funny to see such a failed attempt to frame others as posting in bad faith only to reveal your own bad faith posting. Did the guys using your sock puppet account change shifts and the new guy not know the article had changed?
