This can include youtubers (or youtube adjacent platforms), official documentaries, or even just videos from people vlogging about their experience visiting Canada.

DA RULES

Be Respectful: Approach others with kindness and patience. If you have none, offer your silence instead. Discrimination, hate speech, or harassment won’t be tolerated. If you see any, just downvote and report and it will be cleaned up.
Stay on Topic: Posts must be relevant to Canadian content creators or Canada in general. A video does not need to be made by a Canadian, so long as it prominently features Canada as a topic in the video.
French and English are welcomed: We accept and encourage both official languages. French is super cool. Feel free to post or comment in either language, regardless of the OG post’s language.
Content creator promotions: Promotion of the same channel is limited to once a week. The channel must either be Canadian, or the content being shared must feature a Canadian topic prominently in the video. Self-Promos are permitted within this rules as well.
Posting Etiquette: The post title MUST include the original video title and the name of the person/entity who published the video. The post must also include a direct link (when possible) of where to watch the video. If you are sharing a channel in general, please include a brief sentence explaining the channel in the title, and elaborate further in the body text. This is very much a show and tell community, don’t just show, tell too!

The No Rules

No Memes: No memes, specifically image macro posts. Memes in the comments ARE allowed though.
No Political Posts: This community is not the correct place for political discussion. There are better communities on lemmy.ca for that kind of posts that also accept video posts. LGBTQ+ content, in of itself, is not political. For videos that are in a political grey zone, mods reserve the right to use their own discretion.
No Pornographic content: No NSFW content. Adult topics are allowed if they are on topic, but adult imagery with the intention of being erotic is not allowed.
No Video Game content: Video gaming content is its entirely own pillar of video content creation, that there are other communities more conductive to hosting those posts, such as !canadiangaming@lemmy.ca .
No doing stuff that makes me need to make more rules: Moderation reserves the right to take action on anything seen as detrimental to the community. Just because it is not explicitly banned, does not mean it is neccesarily allowed.

Rules are subject to change as the community grows.

Visibility: Public

This community can be federated to other instances and be posted/commented in by their users.

Rules and Guidelines

1. No Bigotry

Including racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or xenophobia.

2. Be Civil

Argue in good faith, attack the argument; not the person, and promote a healthy debate. That includes implying violence, threats or wishes of violence and/or death.

3. No Porn

This instance is not made to host porn communities. You’re free to access porn communities on other instances through your account, but be mindful of Rule 4.

4. Use the NSFW tag

Use your common sense: if you wouldn’t want this image to show up on your work computer, tag it as such. In comments, use the :::spoiler ::: tag for NSFW images, and put a NSFW mention beside links. Do not use NSFW images as your avatar or banner.

5. No Ads / Spam

This instance is not there to act as your billboard. If you want to promote your personal work, at least make the effort to be a contributing member of this community. Your account purpose shouldn’t be to only advertise, make it natural.

6. Bot account

If you are the operator of a “bot” account, make sure to flag is as such in the account’s settings.

7. Right to privacy

Do NOT distribute the personal information of someone else without their consent (aka doxxing). Information that is public domain can be shared, provided it is in good faith.
ex: The official email of an elected official is fair, the private phone number or the real name of a non-public person is NOT.

8. Report abuse

The report function isn’t labelled the disagree button. You might not agree with someone, but that doesn’t mean what the person says is against the rules. Using it repeately in this fashion will lead to actions being taken against the reporter.

9. Impersonation

Don’t make an account with the intent to negatively deceive or defame someone on the fediverse.
ex: Parody of a famous person is okay, submitting outrageous content as appearing like another user, mod or admin isn’t.
