A new low cost insulin is now available in the US without insurance.

    You would just ask your endo if you can switch. It might take a while for insurances to start covering it. Main benefit of switching will likely be a lower copay, but it’s the same active ingredient as what you’re already on (Insulin glargine, with the tiniest differences) so there likely won’t be a therapeutic benefit.

    Edit: Looks like this is the one announced a few months ago. $55 for 5 pens without insurance. Definitely a good price if insurance isn’t covering Lantus
