    I’m not familiar with LA. I’m wondering if the places connected by this proposed rail line are already walkable - if not, ridership will likely fall well short of predictions.

    Also, while federal and state funding would be nice, I think it should be noted that at it could at lease partly be funded by taxes on gas, tires, vehicle registrations, fees for parking or road use, and/or reallocation of funds for road and highway construction or maintenance.

        I mean… then the initiative will fail its stated goal to ease traffic congestion.

        I suppose this project will take at least a decade. So they have some time to reform the areas being served. But if the areas around the train stops arent walkable, then few will take the train. After all, few people have 2 cars to leave at opposite ends of a rail line.

    Since it’s a heavy rail project with one stop, and it’s L.A., I would expect a giant parking lot at the station on the San Fernando side.

      It is mostly suburbs on the Fan Fernando side. Not even that horrible ones by US standards. There are even some apartment buildings close to the current train station.
