Whatever this is, tear gas, cs gas, is not harmless as is often thought. It causes permanent damage, and is actually a nerve agent, different than what we call nerve agents, but it hits pain receptors in nerves.
Likewise pepper spray would not cause permanent damage but I heard it is often mixed with pfas and other poisonous shit but idk on that source, the tear gas bit was in propublica in 2020 during the blm protests.
