Disinformation from any official should be illegal and punishable. I am pretty sure that it is where I live but I can’t understand how this is done so blatantly again and again in the USA

I have ALWAYS thought this. I could easily end my life by telling the wrong lie, but if I had any position of authority, I could literally lie constantly with impunity. It makes no fucking sense. It’s often trivial to prove things are lies but we act like it would be impossible to force people to mostly tell the truth.
