Hi there. I am using Firefox on macos and something really annoys me. It logs me off all site everytime I close it. I have non sensitive websites where I want to remain logged in without entering my password and 2FA code every single time. The box “Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed” is unticked but once restarted it is ticked again. Any idea what to do? Is that because I have tracking protection set on Strict?

Shouldn’t be a problem. Does it happen with a fresh install? Do you use a VPN that may be blocking your location / device info?

What I mean about a fresh install is a new install with no customizations or addons. Firefox also has a safe mode that will run without addons, but depending on what other privacy customizations you have done that might not be enough to isolate the issue.

i guess thats what ticks the “Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed” box again. i think it’s this option “privacy.clearOnShutdown_v2.cookiesAndStorage”.

In general, it’s good to be aware that the defaults in Firefox are often chosen to find a balance between breakage and privacy protection, and projects like arkenfox consciously accept more breakage in exchange for more privacy. (Although sometimes not even that, e.g. when you enable most, but not all, fingerprinting protection, thereby creating a new fingerprint.)
